27.02.2008

Wordfest 200 main articleCambridge Building Society is delighted to announce its support of the highly acclaimed literary festival ‘Cambridge Wordfest’, which will take place throughout Cambridge from Friday 28th to Sunday 30th March.

The Society will sponsor two of the sixty literary delights on offer - a talk and reading by best-selling novelist Louis de Bernieres (Captain Corelli’s Mandolin and Birds Without Wings), and an event featuring multi-award winning Rose Tremain (The Road Home and The Colour) in conversation with The Independent writer Christina Patterson.

More than 6,000 people are expected to attend the festival, which as well as including talks and readings by well-known and emerging authors, will host a series of workshops, seminars and children’s activities.

Of the event, Marketing Manager Carole Charter said:

“Cambridge Wordfest is a completely new venture for the Society, and we are really excited about getting involved, especially in 2008 - the ‘National Year of Reading’. This year’s programme looks fantastic, and we are pleased to support two very popular events at what I’m sure will be a very successful festival.”
