Bridge the Gap 2006
Led by the Society's Chief Executive, Bob Jackson, the team prepare to embark on the four and a half mile walk.

On Sunday 10th September 2006, a team of staff from the Cambridge Building Society, joined over 2,000 other walkers, taking part in the Cambridge Evening News annual charity walk 'Bridge the Gap'. The four and a half mile route gave walkers the opportunity to see inside the grounds of many of the city's famous colleges, while raising money for charity. The route covered eight Cambridge colleges, as well as Cambridge University's Botanic Garden.

Helen Smith, one of the Society's Assistant Area Managers said: "The Society offers financial support to the community in a variety of different ways, and encourages staff to get involved in local community activities. We are pleased to be able to support 'the News' on this occasion, for such a worthwhile cause."

Now in its fifth year, Bridge the Gap has so far raised £150,000 for charity, and this year, money raised through the entry fee and sponsorship will be split equally between disability charity The Papworth Trust, the Arthur Rank Hospice Charity, which helps people with cancer and other illnesses, and the News' community fund.
